Title : The growth of Oreochromis galilaeus in a heterogeneous breeding system in Yaekama, Zaïre

Summary : Oreochromis galilaeus belongs to Tilapia species group from which growth is of important concern. Indeed, that fish grows with some serious difficulties when it is bred in an artificial heterogeneous midst. From 139 samples of fishes gathered after five years of a mixed breeding system, the authors have established a positive lengthweight relationship (r = 0,897 ; p < 0,01) showing that the improvement of growth is possible. .
