Authors : A. GHORBEL, J.L. CADORE, B. CLERC, A. BOUATTOUR, E. VIDOR et M.J. SAYN
Summary : A 18-day long treatment with oxytetracyclin (66 mg/kg/day in three per os administrations) pertnitted the sterilization of dogs latently infected by Ehrlichia canis, as confirmed by serological studies after 5 months. The injection of 30 ml from 5 latently infected dogs (6 ml each) did not allow the reproduction of the ehrlichiosis in an healthy dog. This protocol confirmed that dog remains a potential source of Rickettsia conorii.
Keywords : Ehrlichia canis - dog ehrlichiosis - oxytetracyclin - dog.
