Title : Appreciation of residual levels of drugs used in veterinary medicine by whole-body autoradiograpby : towards new metbods of detection.
Authors : P. BENARD, M. SMYEJ, A..I. ILBOUDO, T. BENGONE, G..I. SAWADOGO et C. GERMAIN.
Summary : Autoradiography is based on the use of the photographic effects of ionising radiations. It has only been moderately used to investigate the metabolism of xenobiotics used in veterinary medicine. The example of mebendazole, a broad spectrum antiparasitic drug, shows the value of this technical approach. New methods of detection of radioactivity (image analysis, storage phosphor technology, multi-wires chambers) open interesting opportunities for quantification.
Keywords : xenobiotics - veterinary drug - target species - isotope - autoradiography - image analyzers -methods of detection.
