Title : Hypoderma lineatum control in north-eastern Algeria : epidemiology and characterization of biological cycle.
Authors : A. BENAKHLA, C. BOULARD, S. SEDRAOUI et F. OUSSAID.
Summary : A sanitary control of bovine hypodermosis must be planned for the North-East of Algeria. For this project, large scale epidemiologic investigations were performed during the periods 1990-1991 and 1991-1992, at the cattle market of Khroub, in various farms and at the slaughter house of Constantine. The infection level was determined (84 % in December) from these studies. Factors controlling resistance to the disease such as age, race and breeding conditions were studied. A therapeutic scheme was defined for this area. Considering the increasing size of the first stage of Hypoderma lineatum larvae, preventive treatment took place between July and September and a curative treatment during December was set
