Authors : A. ANADÔN , M.R. MARTINEZ-LARRANAGA et M.L. FERNANDEZ-CRUZ.
Summary : This review paper deals with the physiology of the digestive tract in poultry, and with the main features of drug pharmacokinetics (biodisponibility, metabolism and disposition) for a correct approach of avian therapeutics. Modes and routes of administration, in vitro incompatibilities, drug-interactions are described. Indications and dosages are mentioned for the most frequently used families (antibiotics, anti-parasitics). Food additives that are used in poultry (antibiotics, coccidiostatics and others) and their interactions with other therapeutic agents are also checked.
