Title : Epizootic Peste des Petits Ruminants in periurban herds of Dakar : economic importance.
Authors : C. LY, A.J. AKAKPO, P DECONINCK, R. BADA ALAMBEDJI, K. AMEGATSE et J. OUDAR.
Summary : During an outbreak of Peste des Petits Ruminants in Dakar, in goat herds, important losses occured in terms of morbidity (reduction in milk production) and mortality. The losses, estimated at minima, were accounted for about fifteen millions CFA francs for a three-month period. The authors propose measures to avoid such outcomes for small herders investing in an activity providing them with daily gains that are far from marginal.
