Title : Obstructive duodenal foreign body secondary to a diverticulum in a Boxer puppy
Authors : M. BLESCH, V. LIVET, Q. CABON, T. CACHON
Summary : A 5-month-old male Boxer puppy was presented in emergency for acute vomiting and regurgitation associated with dysorexia, evolving for less than 12 hours. Abdominal radiograph and ultrasound revealed an obstructive duodenal foreign body. An exploratory coeliotomy was performed and the foreign body was found in a duodenal diverticulum. An enterectomy with duodenal anastomosis including the diverticulum was realized. Histopathological analysis confirmed a duodenal diverticulum associated with a moderate to severe neutrophilic lymphoplasmacytic enteritis. The absence of etiological cause highlights by the histological analysis, suggested a congenital origin. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a congenital duodenal diverticulum associated to an obstructive foreign body.
