Title : Comparison of the antigens used in the agar immunodiffusion test for their sensitivity in the serological screening of sheep Visna Maedi and goat arthritis-encephalitis infections
Authors : M. REMOND et A. BOUTROUILLE
Summary : After extraction of the precipitating antigens in immunodiffusion tests for Visna Maedi serological diagnosis and determination of their molecular weight, the sensitivity of the test with each precipitin line have been compared on infected sheep and goats sera. With external glycoprotein, more positive sheep are revealed, but 7 p. 100 of the sheep respond only with the core protein, P26. If a heterologous antigen (Visna Maedi) is to be used for diagnosis of C.A.E.V., the internal protein P26 will be a better reagent.
