Title : Effects of uveitis on total protein levels in the aqueous humour of dogs with leishmaniasis
Authors : M. NOVALES, R. LOPEZ, P.J. GINEL, E. MARTIN, P. MORENO et J.M. MOLLEDA.
Summary : The total protein levels in the aqueous humour of a group of dogs with leishmaniasis and uveitis were 23,2 ± 2,5 mg/l ; this was significantly different to concentrations observed both in dogs with only leishmaniasis (3,80 ± 0,42 mg/l) and in healthy controls (3,37 ± 0,22 mg/l). Given the lack of correlation between aqueous humour levels and plasma levels of total proteins, it may be concluded that total protein levels in aqueous humour only rise when leishmaniasis is accompanied by uveitis.
Keywords : total proteins - aqueous humour - uveitis - leishmaniasis - dog.
