Title : A report on the pathology of Baylisascaris transfuga (Ascarididae : Nematoda) for mice
Authors : R. PAPINI et L. CASAROSA.
Summary : Three groups of mice were inoculated intragastrically with 3 000, 4 000 or 5 000 Baylisascaris transfuga infective eggs. Clinical signs were detected in all infected groups : 7 %, 16 % and 50 % of mice died for verminous pneumonitis within 6 days post-infection, while 2 %, 6 % and 20 % showed nervous disorders after 13 to 67 days of infection. These findings suggest that clinical symptoms may occur in man due to B. transfuga Visceral Larva Migrans.
Keywords : Baylisascaris transfuga- visceral larva migrans - mice.
