Title : Comparison of methods for detection of Parvovirus-2 in fecal samples and antibodies in blood sera from dogs
Authors : I.S. ZARKOV, I.P NIKIFOROV and L.K. SOTIROV.
Summary : Fecal (104) and blood (118) samples were obtained from 146 dogs with diarrhea. The fecal samples were studied by ELISA, HR, and IEM and the blood sera by the blocking ELISA, HIR, and RID. Positive results were recorded with the faecal samples both by ELISA (75 %) and HR (46.13 %); CPV-2 antibodies were detected by the blocking ELISA (97.90 %), HIR (94.06 %a), and RID (61.86 %). Comparisons between ELISA, IEM, and HIR showed coincidence of data from ELISA and IEM; sensitivity of both methods being higher than HR. Similar results were obtained by the blocking ELISA and HIR in 93.68 %; by HIR and RID in 67,79 %; and by the blocking ELISA and RID in 54.73 % of the blood samples studied; the blocking ELISA being the most sensitive, followed by HIR and RID.
Keywords : canine parvovirus-2 - detection - fecal samples - blood samples.
