Title : Pathogenicity markers in some Campylobacter jejuni strains isolated from animals.
Authors : A. MILON, S. ABDITCHO et M. BOURY
Summary : Fourteen strains of Campylobacter jejuni isolated front healthy animals (bovine, poultry, dogs, cats) have been tested for their adhesiveness to HeLa cells in vitro, and for their synthesis of thermolabile enterotoxins and cytotoxins. Results were compared with those obtained for 8 strains isolated from human clinical cases. Strains of both origin expressed adhesive properties and thermolabile enterotoxin synthesis. This confirms the role of healthy carrier animals in the epidemiology of human infection.
Keywords : Campylobacter jejuni - adhesion - toxins - epidemiology.
